2019 Scholarship Applications now available
Scholarship applications are available for any high-school or home-schooled senior who is the dependent of a St. Croix Electric Cooperative member and plans to continue their formal education beyond high school. Applications are available:
- online at www.scecnet.net under Community,
- at the Cooperative office, 1925 Ridgeway Street in Hammond (M-F 7:30am-4:30pm),
- or by contacting SCEC at or 715-796-7000.
Applications are judged in two categories with scholarship awards of $500 (one- or two-year technical college) or $1,000 (four-year college/ university).
Since 1981, SCEC has awarded more than $260,000 in scholarships to dependents of members. Scholarship funds are made possible by unclaimed equity capital credits and are managed by the Federated Youth Foundation.
Last year marked the first year for the Wayne Willink Cooperative Leadership Scholarship, established by the former SCEC Director (1972-1993) to encourage the next generation to become involved in the rural communities where they were raised. The $1,000 scholarship, administered by SCEC, is available to dependents of an SCEC members planning to pursue an agriculture-related major at a four-year college.
In 2018, only two students applied for the scholarship.
Applications for all scholarships must be postmarked no later than Friday, March 22, 2019. Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
A committee of Cooperative members will review the applications in March with the recipients notified prior to the 2019 Annual Meeting of Members on April 13. A full list of criteria are listed on the application.
