PEAK Alert!

A PEAK Alert! means demand on the system is high and members' efforts to reduce electricty use will help keep our power provider - Dairyland Power Cooperative (DPC) - from having to purchase power at a higher cost. If consumers can help moderate use of electricity during these PEAK times of demand, less energy can be used, thus the available supply will last longer and DPC won't have to buy as much power at higher costs, which saves SCEC members money!

Regardless of a PEAK Alert! situation, members are encouraged to do the "Summer Shift" and "Power Down" between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., by reducing unnecessary electric use (especially in June through August). Practicing these efforts every day helps reduce your own electric bill and helps the Cooperative save money.
