At their meeting held virtually on Monday, May 4, the St. Croix Electric Cooperative Board of Directors set a new date, time and place for the 83rd Annual Meeting of Members originally scheduled for the morning of Saturday, April 18 at St. Croix Central High School in Hammond following a Member Breakfast. The meeting was postponed out of an abundance of caution due the rapidly changing information available on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and subsequently the Safer At Home order.
The meeting will now be held Tuesday, June 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the co-op headquarters in Hammond.
With the uncertainty of the social and economic outlook for that date, the plan is for members to remain in their vehicles, but as with many plans these days that could change. SCEC employees will be on-hand to register members using the mailing label page from Annual Reports and to direct them to parking spaces.
Richland Electric Cooperative in southwestern Wisconsin held a similar meeting on April 25, with approximately 136 registered members – slightly higher than SCEC’s typical morning meetings in the past. In order for the meeting to be held, SCEC’s bylaws require a quorum of 50 members.
The Official Notice of Meeting will appear in the Annual Report, which will be mailed the week of May 18.

Although there is no pressing business on this year’s agenda and all Director Election voting is done by mail, per SCEC bylaws the election ballots must be tabulated and the results reported at the Annual Meeting, meaning a new District 3 Director cannot be seated until the Annual Meeting is held. Until the meeting, incumbent David Orf is still a functioning director on the board.
Ballots will be mailed to District 3 members (Town of Hudson/southwest corner of Town of Warren) May 26.
Although there will be no meal served at this year’s Annual Meeting, all registered members will receive an SCEC “goodie bag.” There will also be several drawings for bill credits – including for those who updated their contact information for the "Stay in the Know" program.
More information on the drawings and format of the Annual Meeting will be included in the Annual Report to be mailed the week of May 18 and in the June issue of Energy Lifestyles Magazine.
